Olympus cassette+ for nitrate retention, suitable for Olympus device+.

Instructions for renewing (regenerating) the resin in the limestone and nitrate cartridges

The limescale retention cassette (blue base cover for the normal Olympus model+ and yellow base cover for the model GIGA), as well as the nitrate retention cassette (red base cover for the normal Olympus model+ and white base cover for the model GIGA), require resin regeneration as follows:

OLYMPUS NORMAL FILTER+:

For water with a hardness of up to 20-22 mg/L in German degrees, resin regeneration should be performed every approximately 350 liters of water.

OLYMPUS GIGA FILTER:

Same as normal Olympus model+. The regeneration of the resins should be carried out on about 350 liters of water at a hardness of up to 20-22 mg/L in German degrees.

ABOUT THE NITRATE CASSETTE:

For nitrates up to 55 mg/L, the resin regeneration should be performed on approximately 150 liters of water. For nitrates above 55 mg/L, the regeneration procedure should be performed on fewer liters of water. The more often the procedure is repeated and the less water comes out of the filter tap, the better the nitrate reduction result will be for both our models (normal & GIGA).

To regenerate the resin on each cartridge so that it can again reduce calcium-magnesium limescale or nitrates, the following procedure must be followed:

1) We unscrew the cartridge from the device.

2) Fill a narrow, oblong container with a capacity of 1-2 liters with water and add 3-4 full tablespoons of table salt, which we stir well to dissolve before placing the cartridge inside (preferably coarse salt).

3) We immerse the resin cartridge in the water, making sure that it is 100% covered by the salt water.

4) After about 30 - 45 minutes, remove the cassette from the brine and, after rinsing it on the outside with tap water, place it back into the device.

5) We open the tap strongly for about 1 minute to rinse the cassette from the inside of the brine, and that's it.

REPLACING THE RESIN CASSETTE

The durability of the resin cartridge is 10-12 months (as well as the ceramic cartridge with activated carbon), so its replacement is mandatory.

How do I change the filter cartridge?

You unscrew the old cartridge and screw the new one in without tightening it. No tools are required. Before first use, let the water run for 2-3 minutes to rinse the new cartridge.

How do I know which cartridge is suitable?

Check the thread color of the current cartridge. Olympus: green or black for chlorine, bacteria, pesticides, heavy metals and others, blue for limestone, red for nitrates. If you are unsure, call us at +359 2 492 8764 (service in English only).

How often should I change?

The cartridge is replaced every 12 months or 8,000 liters of water, whichever comes first. In the meantime, it can be cleaned to extend its life.

SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL. I've had them for years, ever since they were given away for free as a promotional item. I've since bought four more. I recommend them without hesitation.
